The Dublin Jewish Community, while small, has a rich past, a vibrant present and an exciting future. 

Dublin is a vibrant, young, progressive and welcoming city with a unique culture and outlook on life. As part of a European capital city that hosts a large number of global businesses and high-tech companies, the local Jewish Community is constantly evolving and refreshing itself as individuals and families move here permanently or temporarily. These new people bring a dynamism and give us the opportunity to tap into their unique outlook and skills, to make our Community a more interesting and inclusive one.  

 

The Dublin Jewish Community is currently recruiting for an energetic, religious couple to be part of our future get involved in all aspects of the local Community. We are looking for fluent English speakers, who have experience in community work, and in teaching Jewish Studies and Hebrew in schools. Qualified teachers and native English speakers are particularly desirable.   

 

The job will be split between working for: (1) The Dublin Hebrew Congregation (“DHC”), primarily in planning and organizing community social and educational events, and engaging all aspects of the Jewish Community including youth, students, young adults, families, and older members of the Community. (2) Stratford National School and Stratford College (“Stratford”), teaching Jewish Studies. 

 

Key responsibilities as part of these roles include: 

 

  • Plan and run social and educational events and programmes, for both the DHC and Dublin Maccabi.

  • Support Rabbi Wieder in his role as Rabbi of the DHC, as and when needed.

  • Assist with welfare and pastoral care within the Dublin Jewish Community.

  • Assist with hasgacha and other Kashrut related responsibilities. 

  • Teach Jewish Studies and Hebrew at Stratford.

  • Lead morning prayers at Stratford College. 

  • Provide support to the Heads of Jewish Studies in Stratford. 

  • Teach in the Sunday School and Jewish Montessori as and when needed. 

  • Attend daily and Shabbat/ Yom Tov minyanim.

  • Daven and layn as and when needed; 

 

We would also like the couple to reach out to the wider Jewish Community in Dublin. There are over two thousand Jews in the greater Dublin area, most of whom are not involved with the Synagogue or wider Dublin Jewish Community. We would like to encourage and increase their involvement in the Dublin Jewish Community from both a religious and social aspect.
